In order to achieve accreditation of 2 more wood frame wall assemblies this year, Canada Wood Group Korea is conducting a preliminary fire performance test of load bearing exterior wall assembly on August 22, 2008 at Fire Insurers Laboratories of Korea (FILK).
The 1st issue of Canada Wood Group Korea’s newsletter has been created.
Canada Wood Newsletter is a quarterly e-mail newsletter containing information on Canadian wood products and wood buildings, design and construction of wood buildings, Canadian forestry industry and CWGK’s activities.
Extensive database of 3,000 design and construction professionals has been developed for the distribution of the newsletter.

Canada Wood Korea and Korea Wood Culture Forum (WCF) are jointly holding a wood frame construction seminar for design and construction professionals and university students. Technical information on S-P-F lumber and NLGA grading rule, case studies and design of wood frame buildings, and training programs sponsored by CW will be presented during the seminar.

CWK is holding a technical seminar in conjunction with the fire tests of wood frame wall assemblies from January 7 to January 18 at KICT. Ph.D Jim Mehaffey from FORINTEK and Ph.D Min Byung Ryul, the director of Construction Material Accreditation Center, KICT, will be the speakers at the seminar.

CWK will conduct main fire tests at KICT in collaboration with Korean wood industry for the three year valid certifications for wood frame wall assemblies. The tests data will be utilized for the revision of KS F 1611-1 to include more variety of wood frame wall assemblies which will meet both fire and acoustical requirements targeting MSMF WFC applications.
